about

"Studies serve for delight, for ornament, and for ability."

Francis Bacon wrote that four centuries ago, and I have never found a better case for a curious life.

I am Michael Bailey. I have spent more than thirty years in study, strategy, and design, and eight years here in Kerrville.

Like a lot of people, I turned inward in 2020. I read, I trained, I sat with the harder questions, and I got very good at my own company. I am a capable lone wolf. But I have come to believe that the best things in life are better shared, and that solitude, however rich, has its limits.

The Wild Study is my turn outward. I will teach here, and I hope to learn far more than I teach. I suspect there are others in these hills who went quiet in those years and are ready to come back out. If that is you, I would like to meet you.

Some would rather watch from the doorway before stepping in. I understand. Leave your name and email, and I will send word when the first lamp is lit. No questionnaire, no obligation, and no clutter in your inbox.
